Terms & Conditions
Last updated 14 October 2026. The rules for using The Coffee Review.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By visiting or using The Coffee Review (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site. We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above will always reflect the current version, and continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept it.
2. What the Site is
The Coffee Review is an independently run blog reviewing cafés in Perth, Western Australia, combining a professional coffee-quality score with published pricing and, in time, community ratings. Professional reviews reflect the personal, editorial opinion of the reviewer at the time of tasting, scored against the published criteria on our scoring guide. They are not professional, financial, health or safety advice, and we make no guarantee that your own experience at any café will match a published review.
3. Accounts & eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us straight away if you believe your account has been compromised.
- You agree to provide an email address you actually control and keep it up to date.
- We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, at our discretion.
4. Community reviews & content you submit
When you post a rating, comment, or a correction report, you keep ownership of it, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce and distribute it as part of the Site for as long as it remains published. You confirm that:
- it's your own genuine opinion or report, based on an actual visit or experience;
- it isn't false, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful;
- it doesn't infringe anyone else's intellectual property or privacy;
- it isn't spam, isn't posted to manipulate ratings (for or against a café), and isn't posted by someone with an undisclosed commercial interest in the café being reviewed.
We can remove, edit or decline to publish any content, and suspend the account behind it, at our discretion — including in response to a well-founded complaint from a café or another user. We're not obliged to pre-screen content, but we'll act on reports in good faith.
5. Accuracy of café information
We make a genuine effort to keep café details — prices, menu items, addresses, opening details — accurate and current, and readers can flag anything wrong via the "Is this information inaccurate?" link on any café page. Even so, prices and menus change without notice, and we don't guarantee that published information is complete, current or error-free. Please confirm anything time- or price-sensitive directly with the café before relying on it.
6. Advertising & third-party links
The Site may display advertising served by third-party advertising networks — currently expected to include Adsterra, and possibly others in future — to help fund running the Site. Ads are clearly distinguishable from editorial content and are never disguised as reviews. We don't control, and aren't responsible for, the content of third-party advertisements, or the content or privacy practices of any external site you reach by clicking an ad or a link on the Site (including café websites or social pages). Visiting a third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies and data are handled.
7. Intellectual property
The Site's design, branding, professional reviews, and scoring methodology belong to The Coffee Review unless otherwise noted. You may view, share links to, and quote brief excerpts of the Site's content with attribution; you may not republish whole reviews, scrape the Site at scale, or use our branding to imply an affiliation that doesn't exist, without our written permission. Content you submit remains yours, subject to the licence in §4.
8. No warranty
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of inaccuracies, and nothing on the Site constitutes a guarantee about any café's food safety, hygiene, accessibility, or business practices. Nothing in this section limits any consumer guarantee that can't lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Coffee Review and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site, a café visit made in reliance on it, or content posted by other users, even if we've been advised such loss was possible. Where liability can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or similar legislation, our liability is limited to the minimum extent that law allows.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from content you submit, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the Site.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection law that applies in your own location.
